For your Treasure Planet AU, how about Rex or Roman as Silver, and the Dark Signers as the pirate crew. He gets close to Yusei because he worked with his father to find the treasure, but a "tragic incident" took Mr. Fudo's life, which made Yusei an orphan. I don't know if this idea is good because I don't know who the rest of the cast would be, but I thought that this was worth sharing with you.
IT ACTUALLY WAS VERY WORTH IT, but defining the “tragic incident” is an important detail here… XD in Treasure Planet, Silver is a sort of father figure to Jim, but in this scenario, having an actual enemy like Rex/Roman (meaning: the tragic incident was somehow CAUSED by one of them) would just destroy Yusei’s trust and faith in humanity, especially if Rex/Roman doesn’t seem to regret his actions.
UNLESS the tragic incident was actually a tragic incident, lol. (Boring?)
There would be a way out of this, if we bend the rules a little: imagine if ther were both the Goodwin brothers on the ship. Imagine Roman being the most charismatic one, the one who knows the truth about Dr Fudo’s death, but hides it (as he was obviously involved in the incident). Except… he wasn’t the responsible one for his death. The actual villain here is Rex (even if you can swap their roles, it still works tbh), but both brothers are hiding it.
Except Rex tries to betray his own brother when it comes to the treasure. That’s where the full truth gets revealed by Roman. Yusei doesn’t know who to trust at this point: after one or two action scenes, Roman will save Yusei’s life (in “exchange” of the wooden ship full of gold, where Rex is; we know that said ship ends up under a huge laser beam though, sooo goodbye forever Rex, you lil shit?)
He makes amend for all his lies leaving Yusei some gold and jewels at the end of the movie, like in Treasure Planet. Again, this would work with any Goodwin brother you prefer, but I hope this fits this AU?

I like the idea of Rua being the protag without powers, we know he would have loved being one of the Signers XD and he did get a signer mark in the end, like Mirabelle!!
About Ruka, yeah, her being the sibling who could talk with animals (Antonio) fits much better bc she’s the last who gets her powers (do you remember the beginning of the movie, where Mirabelle encourages him right before the rite? That part, but with Rua and Ruka, it feels adorable to me! Even though it’s a little heart-breaking for Rua) AND because she can talk to the monsters spirits in 5Ds!
Crow as Camilo (shape-shifter) would be so freaking hilarious, sign me up IMMEDIATELY
I don’t need to comment on Aki and Isabela tbh, the parallelism is so perfect it really doesn’t need any explanation

At this point, only Yusei would be left out… I’m crying bc age wise, the only role left that he could actually FIT IS FREAKING MARIANO HAHAHA (Isabela’s bf, who later notices Dolores XD Yusei x Ruka is NOT my ship, but that’s what would happen with a direct parallelism, unfortunately. I’d have to bend the main storyline in my favor :V)
I reeeeally wouldn’t know about the other characters (Bruno, tia Pepa, Abuela…), they’re all older, and I’d have trouble into looking for niche 5Ds characters to get them all in the Madrigal family.
We simply don’t have an Abuela (Martha would be an excellent Julieta, Mirabel’s mother, but never an Abuela) and Bruno’s character is too important to be given to very niche characters… I first thought of Kiryu (I’d have to make him much older, of course)! But Pepa??? Would she be Sherry, with Bruno??? Again, they’d have to be much older-
SOooo yeah, this AU half-works as it is, but with some changes, it’s an excellent story!

Kind of been wondering, what are your thoughts on a 'Yusei being a Psychic Duelist' Au? I stumbled onto that as a fic, and I'm a bit intrigued by the idea of it myself. Just not sure how it'll work in the story in general as I haven't seen 5D's in a long while...

Honestly, I’d love an AU with Yusei as psychic duelist. But that would imply a lot of changes in the main storyline:
- Yusei would get extra reasons to be discriminated (not only bc he’s from Satellite + prison, but also bc he’s dangerous)
- would his friends be supportive throughout their whole childhood time? they’d be a positive influence on him for sure, I like to imagine they helped him when he struggled to be accepted by other kids in the Satellite and to control his powers, but that’s my 2 cents
- I like to also imagine that he can control his powers during the time of the main storyline events, while Aki cannot. That would make him an even better “role model” for her, especially comparing him to Sayer/Divine! (Gosh, Divine would hate him sooo much more XD)
- As you know, in prison, the guards tried to force his mark to manifest. He was also forced to duel. Would that have happened knowing fully well that he was a psychic duelist??? They had only two options, leave him alone or risk their lives, depending on the amount of pressure they would put on him. I really don’t know what would have happened in that case.
- Now, the Arcadia Movement would have found out about him for sure. Would he have been one of them??? I mean, why not? Maybe he could have met Aki THERE. But the story would have become very psychic duelist-centered. Still an excellent shift for me, I love psychic duelists way more than standard duelists. I’m sorry I don’t make the rules here-
- We would have still got an arc about the runaway from the evil movement and some boss battle against Divine. So yeah, I’m in for this
- REAL STARDUST DRAGON??? HELLO???

I saw your Atlantis AU and wanted to know if you ever saw Treasure Planet or Meet The Robinsons, and if so, I could see those two with the 5Ds gang for obvious reasons.
Treasure Planet was a BIG fav, but I never (fully) watched Meet the Robinsons ^^“
–Treasure Planet though!! Pretty sure there are some asks about that AU here, I can totally see Yusei as Jim (rebellion phase? trouble with the police? loving and gentle heart? sign me the f up), but I can’t think of a canon father figure for him… I would reshape this AU in a veeery different direction. Yusei would still be the one saving the day, but every other character would get a different "role”. No father figure, more of an “adventure team” thing, all of Martha’s adopted sons tying to survive a pirate mutiny (led by Kiryu in my head. He might be a good cyborg hahah), all while running away with the lady captain of the ship (Aki, of course).
It wouldn’t be a matching AU, but it would be A GOOD AU.
